Replacing an aging municipal facility, the project led by KCI Construction features two parallel aeration treatment trains, a clarifier, and a dedicated sludge holding basin. The upgrade also introduces advanced phosphorus removal processes and an ultraviolet light disinfection system to meet modern environmental standards.
Patrick O'Brien, Western Region Sales Manager for Penetron USA, noted that the concrete mix for all primary structures was treated with PENETRON ADMIX SB. Supplied by St. Charles County Concrete, this admixture ensures the structures remain impermeable under heavy hydrostatic pressure. Beyond immediate water resistance, the crystalline technology provides a self-healing mechanism designed to seal future microcracks, effectively extending the service life of the infrastructure against chemical degradation.
