Sam Houston Race Park to Host Three-Day PRCA Rodeo Event

A convergence of horse racing and professional rodeo arrives in Houston this November as Sam Houston Race Park partners with the Rodeo at the Racetrack circuit. The three-day event, scheduled for November 5–7, 2026, aims to blend high-stakes competition with charitable support for the veteran-focused organization Camp Hope.

The weekend kicks off with the Camp Hope Gala in the track's Jockey Club, featuring a silent auction and a barrel racing exhibition. Competition intensifies on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m., when PRCA athletes take to the arena for eight core events, including saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, and bull riding. Organizers have curated a full slate of side events, from a BBQ cook-off to a vendor village and mechanical bull rides for attendees.

This initiative marks an expansion of the Rodeo at the Racetrack concept, which originated at Minnesota’s Canterbury Park. Ted Slathar, a PRCA board member and the event’s co-founder, developed the model to unite two major American sporting traditions. Kip Rakos, CEO of the organization, noted that the partnership leverages the venue’s history to create a significant community impact. Tickets for the November showcase go on sale August 1, with general admission starting at $25.
