Darlissa M. Allen, a former Marine Corps member and graduate of Georgetown and Cornell, secured the $10,000 first-place award. Set to attend the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law, Allen intends to leverage her training to build protective systems for underserved populations. The second-place scholarship of $7,000 was awarded to Angelreana Choi, a Yale graduate heading to the University of Virginia School of Law, who plans to focus her advocacy on immigrant and rural communities.
Eight additional finalists, representing institutions from Harvard to UCLA, each received $1,000 to assist with their tuition costs. The selection committee evaluated candidates based on their leadership experience, academic achievement, and the clarity of their vision for societal change. Aspen Publishing CEO Nicole Pinard noted that the high volume of applications reflects a resilient generation of students dedicated to the future of the profession. All funds are paid directly to the recipients' respective law schools.
