WaterField Designs Launches Modular 48-Hour Travel System

San Francisco manufacturer WaterField Designs has debuted a five-piece modular travel system designed to bridge the gap between a weekend duffel and a professional briefcase. Developed with input from 700 customers, the set aims to simplify the transition from airport transit to the boardroom for short business trips.

The 48-Hour Travel System centers on a personal-item-sized Carryall that accommodates clothing and tech, paired with a removable Slim Brief for meetings or in-flight use. By integrating two Monolite packing cubes and a dedicated suspension strap, the system allows travelers to consolidate their gear without sacrificing professional aesthetics. Founder Gary Waterfield noted that the design addresses a recurring pain point: the difficulty of finding a single bag that manages both overnight necessities and office-ready organization.

Constructed in the company's San Francisco workshop, the system features weather-resistant materials including waxed canvas, ballistic nylon, and EcoPak, all accented with full-grain leather. The Carryall includes a luggage passthrough and concealable backpack straps, while the Slim Brief houses dual padded sleeves for laptops up to 16 inches. Priced at $729, the full set is available for order online, with early purchasers through August 2 receiving a complimentary monogrammed leather AirTag tag.
