NEXCOM Targets SMB Network Bottlenecks with Compact DTA 1600 Gateway

Small and medium-sized businesses struggling to balance enterprise-grade security with limited power and space budgets have a new hardware option. NEXCOM has launched the DTA 1600, a compact gateway designed to provide high-performance firewall and VPN capabilities through a specialized, deployment-friendly architecture tailored for edge network constraints.

Powered by the MediaTek MT7988A quad-core processor, the device offloads intensive tasks to dedicated hardware, which keeps CPU usage low even during heavy traffic. The gateway stands out for its connectivity options, including a 10GbE SFP+ interface alongside 2.5GbE and 1GbE ports. To ensure network continuity, NEXCOM integrated TPM 2.0 security, bypass functionality, and its proprietary NEXBOOT dual-layer failover system.

The platform is built to simplify the development cycle for independent software vendors and system integrators. By providing a fully supported OpenWrt environment and comprehensive SDKs, the DTA 1600 allows teams to bypass lengthy setup phases. Internal performance testing using open-source frameworks confirmed that the unit maintains multi-gigabit throughput under load, proving that compact hardware can handle the rigorous demands of modern security services.
