Charles Piekanski, vice president of the utility, stated that immediate, small changes in household habits are necessary to stave off mandatory restrictions. The request specifically targets residential outdoor and indoor tasks, excluding commercial and industrial operations for the duration of the current dry spell.

Residents are encouraged to limit outdoor irrigation to alternating days and avoid washing paved surfaces or boats. Inside the home, the utility advises running dishwashers and laundry machines only when fully loaded and checking plumbing for leaks. Installing WaterSense-certified fixtures can also improve efficiency by at least 20 percent. These adjustments aim to preserve remaining supply until local water levels stabilize.
