AU Small Finance Bank Ups NRI Deposit Rates to Compete for Overseas Funds

With global interest rate dynamics shifting, AU Small Finance Bank has moved to capture a larger share of the diaspora’s capital. Effective July 27, 2026, the institution lifted its peak interest rates on Foreign Currency Non-Resident deposits to 7.40% and Non-Resident External fixed deposits to 7.60%.

The revision targets specific tenures to attract long-term commitment from non-resident investors. Peak yields on FCNR(B) deposits now reach 7.40% for the 3 to 4-year bracket, while NRE fixed deposits offer up to 7.60% for terms ranging from 36 months and one day to 45 months. These adjustments follow a June 2026 Reserve Bank of India directive that granted lenders greater flexibility in setting competitive rates for foreign currency inflows.

Beyond interest yields, the bank is leveraging a fee-free strategy to appeal to the NRI segment, maintaining zero forex margins and no bank charges on remittances. These services remain accessible through the bank's digital ecosystem, including its 24/7 video banking and the AU 0101 application. Currently operating 2,920 touchpoints across India, the bank manages a deposit base of ₹1,57,727 crore as it prepares for its transition into a universal banking model.
