The board of directors selected Deno following a comprehensive search to identify a successor capable of driving operational and financial growth. Carl Berquist, the company’s independent chairman, cited Deno’s four decades of experience across the restaurant and retail sectors as a primary factor in the decision, noting his history of managing brand expansion and strengthening financial foundations. Before his tenure at Bloomin' Brands, where he served as CEO from 2019 to 2024, Deno held senior executive roles at Yum! Brands, Pizza Hut, and Best Buy.
For her part, Julie Masino will remain with the Lebanon, Tennessee-based company in an advisory capacity until October 9, 2026, to assist with the handoff. Deno expressed a commitment to maintaining the brand's traditional hospitality while shifting focus toward profitable growth and enhancing the guest experience. The leadership change comes as the company continues to manage its portfolio of approximately 660 locations across 43 states.
