Tom Holland Admits He Has Promoted Movies He Privately Despised

Tom Holland is finally enjoying a press tour where he does not have to lie to his audience. The actor revealed that in the past, he has been forced to sell tickets for projects he privately considered garbage, marking a stark contrast to his current pride in his latest film work.

Speaking on the Dish podcast, Holland confessed that the most grueling part of his job used to be convincing fans to watch films he knew were subpar. He described the internal conflict of standing before reporters, wondering why anyone should bother buying a ticket for a project he felt was fundamentally flawed. While the actor declined to name specific titles from his past, his filmography includes several critically panned projects such as Chaos Walking, which holds a 21% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Dolittle, which sits at 15%.

This cycle of regret appears to be behind him as he pivots toward more prestige-driven work. Holland is currently championing The Odyssey and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, projects he describes as a victory lap for his career. His collaboration with Christopher Nolan on The Odyssey has been particularly transformative; Holland noted that the director’s rigorous adherence to a finished script stands in sharp contrast to the improvisational, often scriptless environments he navigated during his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
