The Mary Morello Memorial Project channels contributions toward several nonprofit groups that held personal significance for the retired history teacher. The list of supported organizations includes the UFW Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, The Midnight Mission, Jail Guitar Doors, Orphans of the Storm, All Chicago, Corazón for Cuba, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and the Center for Native American Youth. Beyond direct monetary support, the guitarist has urged his followers to engage in acts of service, asking them to share their efforts online to sustain the legacy of activism his mother instilled in him.
Morello announced the project on Instagram shortly after his mother’s passing, an event that led him to cancel a string of European concert dates to be by her side. To accompany the launch, he shared a series of personal videos documenting their life together, including footage of Mary at his early shows and clips capturing her long-standing pride in his career. Supporters have responded with an outpouring of tributes, praising the initiative as a fitting continuation of her work for peace and justice.
