The center, which serves as the home for the Community PēdsCare program, represents a significant expansion of regional support for children with serious illnesses. By offering dedicated spaces such as the Healing Harmonies Music Therapy Room and the Sensory Therapeutic Playroom, the facility aims to complement the in-home services that Community Hospice & Palliative Care has provided for decades across Northeast Florida.
Phillip Ward, president and CEO of the organization, noted that the facility was built with the family experience at the center of every architectural decision. Beyond medical treatment, the building includes an Outdoor Sanctuary, the Tree of Wonder, and creative arts rooms intended to allow children to experience childhood despite their health challenges. This physical hub now works alongside established home-based and hospital care to provide a comprehensive support network for families navigating complex health journeys.
