Old Forester Debuts First Whiskey Distilled Entirely on Main Street

Old Forester has reached a manufacturing milestone, unveiling Triple Char as the first expression in its 117 Series crafted exclusively from spirit produced at the brand's historic Louisville Main Street facility. The release signals a transition for the site, which has operated as a working production hub since 2018.

To celebrate the distillery's evolution, the brand utilized barrels charred three times longer than its standard specifications. This aggressive charring process aims to intensify the interaction between the wood and the distillate, yielding a profile marked by spice, leather, and oak depth. Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo noted that the process allows the distillery to showcase its spirit in a distinct, experimental light.

Bottled at 115 proof, the Triple Char expression is now available in limited quantities at the Main Street distillery and select Kentucky retailers for $64.99 per 375 mL bottle. The release follows previous 117 Series entries like High Angels' Share and Whiskey Row Fire, continuing the brand's focus on experimental production techniques. Tasting notes for the bourbon describe a palate of baked apple cobbler and cinnamon, anchored by a finish of rich oak and sweet licorice.
