CS PowerTech Opens Flagship Solar Cell Plant in Indiana

The Jeffersonville plant represents a nearly $1 billion investment and is expected to create over 1,200 jobs in Southern Indiana, spanning engineering, manufacturing, and technical roles. By producing HJT solar cells, the facility complements the company’s existing module manufacturing plant in Mesquite, Texas, creating a vertically integrated domestic production pipeline. At full capacity, the new facility is projected to output more than 6 GWp of solar power annually.

CS PowerTech President Rusty Schmit noted that the facility is central to building one of North America's most advanced energy manufacturing supply chains. The company plans to ramp up production for the first phase over the coming months and intends to begin expansion for a second phase before the end of the year. Local and state officials, including Governor Mike Braun and Mayor Mike Moore, characterized the investment as a significant win for regional economic growth and a reinforcement of Indiana’s role in the national energy infrastructure.
