Ontario International Airport hits record passenger levels

The mid-year performance was bolstered by a significant surge in international travel, which climbed 45.7% to reach 346,219 passengers. While domestic traffic saw a slight dip of 1.5%, the overall growth trajectory remains positive. Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority Board of Commissioners, attributed the success to consistent customer service and the confidence placed in the airport by airline and shipping partners.

Beyond passenger transit, the airport solidified its status as a critical node in the global supply chain. Air cargo volumes rose by 7.6% year-to-date, totaling 428,217 tons. Freight operations performed particularly well, with an 11.2% increase, even as mail volumes experienced a decline. Southwest Airlines maintained its position as the dominant carrier, capturing 36.5% of the passenger share in June, followed by American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
