ASUR Reports Mixed Second Quarter Results Amid Passenger Traffic Shifts

Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste saw total passenger traffic fall 2.7% during the second quarter of 2026, as declines in Mexico and Puerto Rico outweighed gains in Colombia. Despite the lower volume, the airport operator reported a 9.9% increase in total revenues, reaching Ps.9,579 million for the three-month period.

The company’s performance highlights a regional divergence in air travel demand. Mexico, the operator's primary market, experienced a 5.0% drop in passenger traffic, while Puerto Rico saw a 3.5% decline. In contrast, Colombian operations grew by 3.6%, bolstered by a 4.1% rise in domestic travel.

Financial results were impacted by the December 2025 acquisition of ASUR US Commercial Airports, which contributed Ps.443.8 million to the quarterly revenue. While top-line figures grew, profitability faced pressure; consolidated EBITDA fell 8.7% to Ps.4,589.9 million, and the adjusted EBITDA margin contracted to 62.0% from 67.6% in the same period last year. The firm maintains a net debt-to-LTM EBITDA ratio of 0.9x with cash holdings totaling Ps.11,641.4 million.
