Ice cream and frozen novelties have transitioned from seasonal indulgences to household staples. According to the data, 72% of consumers treat frozen desserts as versatile snacks rather than strictly after-dinner sweets. This behavior is driven by the need for low-effort, budget-friendly rewards that require zero preparation. While summer heat remains a primary motivation for 43% of buyers, everyday restocking and spontaneous cravings keep freezer inventories consistently replenished throughout the year.
Shoppers are increasingly favoring quality and portion control over sheer volume. Seven in 10 consumers prefer smaller, high-quality servings of their favorite brands, driving demand for mini-cones, snack-sized bars, and sandwiches. This shift is accompanied by a curiosity for innovation; a majority of respondents expressed interest in seasonal flavors and restaurant-inspired formats. Familiar branding acts as a crucial trust signal, with 65% of shoppers reporting that established names make them more likely to experiment with new dietary or portion-controlled options. The survey, conducted by Morning Consult, underscores a desire for clearer labeling and better in-store navigation to help consumers identify products that align with their specific lifestyle and health preferences.
