Courtney Stodden Seeks Action Beyond Apology from Jason Alexander

The 2012 Funny or Die video, a parody titled The Donny Clay Show, featured a 52-year-old Alexander interacting with a 17-year-old Stodden in ways she now describes as manipulative and damaging. Alexander recently told Variety that he deeply regrets his participation in the project, which he co-wrote. For Stodden, who was married to 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchison at the time, the apology marks a rare moment of accountability in an industry she says frequently exploited her youth.

Stodden, now 31, is urging Alexander to move beyond words by supporting California’s AB 1267, a bill aimed at establishing 18 as the legal minimum age for marriage. She is currently working with the nonprofit Unchained at Last to lobby for the legislation, noting that California remains one of the few states without a minimum age requirement. Stodden emphasized that her focus is not on reliving her past, but on preventing similar experiences for other minors. She remains critical of other public figures involved in her past, noting that she has yet to receive an apology from Dr. Drew Pinsky, who once performed a televised breast ultrasound on her when she was 16.
