Planet Fitness Investors Face September Deadline in Securities Lawsuit

Investors who purchased Planet Fitness, Inc. securities between November 6, 2025, and May 6, 2026, have until September 14, 2026, to file as lead plaintiffs in a newly initiated securities class action. The lawsuit follows a sharp 31% drop in share price triggered by a sudden reduction in the company's 2026 financial guidance.

The legal action, filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, alleges that Planet Fitness misled shareholders by failing to disclose critical marketing and pricing failures. According to the complaint, management's national advertising campaign was actively alienating core demographic groups during the crucial first-quarter sign-up season, contradicting public assurances that the company's growth strategy remained on track.

Shareholders contend that the company’s optimistic projections regarding the Black Card price rollout and long-term growth algorithms lacked a reasonable basis in reality. When the company finally disclosed these headwinds on May 7, 2026, the stock plummeted from $63.96 to $44.01 per share. The lawsuit names CEO Colleen Keating and former CFO Jay Stasz as defendants, asserting that the company prioritized generic risk disclosures over the specific operational problems currently hindering its financial performance.
