Sharon AI Recruits Spark New Zealand Veteran as Legal Chief

Melissa Anastasiou, a veteran executive who spent over 16 years navigating the complex regulatory landscape at Spark New Zealand, has been named Chief Legal Officer of Sharon AI. Her arrival marks a significant push by the Australian Neocloud provider to bolster its governance as it scales sovereign AI infrastructure.

Anastasiou brings two decades of experience in finance, governance, and technology law to the NASDAQ-listed company. During her lengthy tenure at Spark, she served as Executive Group General Counsel and Commercial Director, where she managed corporate governance, cyber privacy, and digital transformation initiatives. Crucially, she chaired the company's AI & Data Ethics Committee, a background Sharon AI CEO James Manning highlighted as vital for the company's expansion.

In her new role, Anastasiou will oversee legal and compliance functions, focusing on regulatory discipline and the development of responsible AI frameworks. The hire is part of a broader strategy to attract senior talent from established technology firms to support the company’s growth in high-performance computing. By securing an executive with deep experience in national infrastructure, Sharon AI aims to meet the heightened security and governance demands of its international customer base.
