The annual ranking, developed by CNBC alongside data firm Statista, evaluated thousands of contenders based on market-specific performance indicators and technological innovation. Royal Chen, Vice President of Tencent Financial Technology, noted that the platform’s future strategy centers on deepening ecosystem collaboration and interoperability to connect global partners with more than one billion users.
Currently, the platform facilitates cross-border remittances to China from over 150 countries by partnering with more than 60 international financial institutions. Beyond remittances, the service has integrated major international card networks like Visa and Mastercard into the WeChat environment. It also supports interoperability with over 40 digital wallets across 13 regions, allowing international travelers to use familiar services such as PayPal or South Korea’s Travel Wallet at millions of merchants across the Chinese mainland.
