Activewear Brand TALA Appoints New C-Suite Leadership

Activewear brand TALA has finalized its leadership transition, appointing Sally Hughes as CEO and Verity Linnell as CFO. The move reinforces the company’s commitment to female-led executive structures within a retail landscape where such appointments remain statistically rare.

Founder Grace Beverley confirmed the appointments, highlighting Hughes’s transition from interim CEO to the permanent role following a successful tenure this year. Hughes brings two decades of industry experience to the brand. Joining her is Verity Linnell, who steps into the CFO position after holding roles at Farfetch, Pai Skincare, and Cuisinart.

For Beverley, the appointments carry broader significance regarding gender parity in venture-backed businesses. With female-founded companies historically receiving a fraction of available funding and facing male-dominated C-suite environments, TALA aims to maintain its founding principle of women creating products for women. The leadership changes coincide with a period of expansion for the company, which recently launched its Softset fabric line and opened two physical stores. As Beverley prepares for a period of maternity leave, she expressed confidence in the new executive team’s ability to manage the 75-person operation.
