Adecco Group calls for hybrid workforce orchestration in AI era

Corporate inertia poses a greater threat to the global economy than AI-driven job displacement, according to a whitepaper released by The Adecco Group. The report argues that organizations are failing to adapt their structures quickly enough to capitalize on AI, risking wasted investment and diminished productivity across major markets.

The analysis, developed with consultancy Altermind, introduces the concept of hybrid workforce orchestration as the new management standard. This approach requires leaders to intentionally redesign workflows so that human employees, AI agents, and physical automation systems collaborate to maximize value. While AI creates new tasks faster than it eliminates roles—evidenced by 1.9 million new AI-related jobs appearing between 2022 and 2025—actual enterprise integration remains sluggish. Currently, only 18% of U.S. firms and 20% of European companies have deployed AI at a core operational scale.

Denis Machuel, CEO of The Adecco Group, emphasized that the next phase of the technological transition belongs to those who successfully restructure their internal operations. He noted that while technology provides the raw capability, human intervention remains the critical component for converting that potential into tangible business results. The report suggests that firms must move beyond fragmented adoption and treat the integration of machine and human labor as a unified, scalable discipline to remain competitive over the coming decade.
