The campaign leans into the franchise's hallmark brand of absurd, risqué humor, with the killer’s profile joking about a "high body count" while strictly banning "foot stuff." In a promotional video, the 54-year-old Electra directs the masked figure through a photoshoot, even coaching him to twerk on a sofa. The pair also recreates the iconic opening sequence from the original 2000 film, with the killer sprinting through a garden sprinkler in his underwear.
This promotional pivot follows the theatrical success of the film, which grossed $230 million globally since its June debut. The production marked a significant homecoming for the series, reuniting original stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall. For Faris, the project offered a return to the spotlight after shifting her career focus toward voice acting and television work following her departure from the CBS sitcom Mom in 2020. The studio’s decision to utilize a character-led social media strategy serves as a provocative alternative to traditional advertising, bridging the gap between the parody series and the current digital landscape.
