Catherine Giudici and Sean Lowe Navigate Son’s Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis

After a routine pediatrician visit turned into a four-day hospital stay, Catherine Giudici and Sean Lowe are adjusting to a life-altering reality. Their eight-year-old son, Isaiah, has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, a condition the family is now learning to manage while navigating a challenging new normal.

The diagnosis came after the family’s pediatrician noticed alarming physical changes in Isaiah during an annual check-up. Despite appearing active and healthy, the boy had lost 11 pounds since his previous exam. When combined with symptoms of frequent thirst and urination, these clinical markers prompted immediate medical intervention at Children’s Hospital.

Giudici shared the update on Instagram, describing the four-day hospitalization as an intensive crash course in diabetes management. While the process brought tears and confusion, she highlighted the resilience of her son, whom she now calls her "new hero" for his ability to maintain a playful spirit despite the physical pain of constant injections. The couple, who met on Season 17 of The Bachelor, is now focused on integrating this complex health routine into their life with their three children. This health crisis follows previous family challenges, including the difficult decision to rehome two dogs after separate aggressive incidents involving their children and Lowe himself.
