Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt introduced the design, emphasizing that the new home is intended to elevate the gameday experience while maintaining the franchise's identity. The facility will feature a translucent ETFE roof and a seating capacity of approximately 70,000. Engineers have prioritized the stadium's geometry specifically to amplify crowd noise, ensuring the venue retains the reputation for volume that defined the team’s previous home. The design also incorporates a Drum Deck and a prominent Ring of Honor, bridging traditional fan rituals with contemporary amenities.
To lead this transition, the Chiefs selected local firms MANICA as the lead design architect and HNTB as the architect of record. The project is expected to serve as a massive economic engine for the region, projecting $8.2 billion in economic impact during construction and supporting 8,500 jobs annually once operational. The development will be financed through a public-private partnership utilizing STAR bonds and the Attracting Professional Sports to Kansas Fund, with officials noting that the plan avoids new state taxes. Beyond the stadium, the site will house an expanded Hall of Honor, a significantly larger team store, and a mixed-use district designed to anchor the surrounding community.
