Photronics Director Named in Securities Class Action Over Demand Slump

KangJyh Lee, a director at Photronics, Inc. and president of its PDMC division, faces a securities class action lawsuit alleging he misled investors about the company’s high-end IC design pipeline. The complaint claims Lee concealed a significant slowdown in customer tape-outs that ultimately triggered a 36.42% collapse in share price.

The litigation centers on public assurances provided by Lee during earnings calls between December 10, 2025, and May 27, 2026. According to the filing, Lee dismissed a post-Chinese New Year seasonal downturn as a temporary hurdle, insisting that customer orders would rebound by early March 2026. He further cited capacity constraints at the company’s Boise facility as evidence of robust demand, even as design release momentum allegedly faltered across the firm's customer base.

The market reaction on May 28, 2026, proved severe, with PLAB shares dropping $19.49 following the company's admission that the design release delays were more extensive than anticipated. Plaintiffs contend that Lee, acting as a controlling person under Section 20(a) of the Exchange Act, possessed the authority to correct these disclosures but failed to do so.

Investors who purchased Photronics securities during the specified period have until September 4, 2026, to apply for lead plaintiff status. The law firm Levi & Korsinsky, LLP, which is representing the class, notes that participants do not incur upfront costs, as the litigation is handled on a contingency basis.
