The agreement tasks both parties with evaluating the technical and commercial viability of modernizing the port’s infrastructure. If the initial assessments prove successful, the project will pivot toward expanding storage capacity and streamlining the handling of bulk agricultural commodities. This initiative is designed to bolster Djibouti's role as a primary trade conduit between global markets and the African continent.
This move aligns with broader efforts backed by the International Finance Corporation, which has provided advisory support for feasibility studies and planning. Süleyman Tiryakioğlu, CEO of Tiryaki Agro, emphasized that the collaboration serves their long-term goal of fostering private sector-led growth. By upgrading the Tadjourah site, the partners intend to enhance supply chain resilience across the region, positioning the port as a cornerstone of future economic stability.
