The aQCess platform, coordinated by Shannon Whitlock and Guido Pupillo at the Centre Européen de Sciences Quantiques, is designed to scale to more than 400 qubits. By integrating QPerfect’s software stack directly with the hardware, the partners intend to provide researchers with a virtual environment that mirrors the physical system’s noise, gate sets, and atom transport operations. This allows users to validate quantum workloads before deploying them on the actual machine.
This initiative aligns with the French National Strategy for Quantum Technologies, positioning the Strasbourg-based team at the intersection of hardware and software development. According to QPerfect CEO Philippe Blot, the proximity to the physical hardware is critical for refining error correction and compilation software, including the company’s Quantum Logic Unit. The project is expected to streamline the transition from theoretical research to practical infrastructure as the aQCess system continues its development.
