Majid Al Futtaim is among the first companies to integrate the system throughout its physical network, utilizing an acquiring partnership with Network International to enable in-store processing. While physical locations are currently live, the group plans to expand functionality to its digital platforms in the coming weeks.
Darren Taylor, Senior Vice President of SHARE Rewards & Customer Solutions, noted that the initiative aims to simplify interactions while bolstering the group’s internal payment infrastructure. For Al Etihad Payments, the entity behind the card, the partnership provides a critical footprint in high-traffic commercial spaces. Andrea Cianchetti, Chief Products Officer at AEP, emphasized that broad merchant acceptance remains the primary catalyst for scaling the national scheme as more financial institutions begin issuing cards to the public.
