Tesco expands rapid delivery through Uber Eats and Deliveroo partnerships

Tesco is significantly widening its on-demand grocery reach by integrating its Whoosh service with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. This move marks a strategic expansion for Britain’s largest supermarket, aiming to leverage the existing logistics networks of both platforms to deliver groceries to a broader consumer base starting this August.

The partnerships allow customers to access hundreds of Clubcard prices and earn loyalty points while ordering through the third-party apps. This initiative builds on the success of Tesco's proprietary Whoosh service, which launched in 2021 and currently provides grocery delivery from approximately 1,800 stores, covering over 70% of the UK population.

Ashwin Prasad, CEO of Tesco UK, stated that combining the retailer's market-leading range with the scale of these delivery platforms simplifies the shopping experience for millions. Executives from both Uber Eats and Deliveroo emphasized that the integration reflects the growing consumer demand for instant access to everyday essentials. The Uber Eats rollout begins in August, with the Deliveroo service following later this summer.
