Novo Tellus Joins RCF and NRFC to Acquire Russell Mineral Equipment

Singapore-based Novo Tellus has finalized its first Australian investment, joining Resource Capital Funds and the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation to complete the buyout of Russell Mineral Equipment. The move marks the conclusion of a long-term ownership succession plan for the Toowoomba-based leader in mining mill relining technology.

Founded by Dr. John Russell in 1985, the company has spent four decades refining the mill relining machines essential for the mining industry. Its systems are currently deployed across 440 mine sites in 64 countries, playing a critical role in maintaining the safety and productivity of grinding mills that process the world's copper and gold. As global demand for metals surges to support AI infrastructure and electrification, the new ownership group intends to accelerate the firm's automation capabilities and expand its aftermarket service network.

Wai San Loke, Managing Partner at Novo Tellus, identified the firm’s technology as a strategic asset for the modern mining sector. By partnering with the existing management team and co-investors, Novo Tellus aims to scale RME’s reach, bringing technical support and parts closer to international mining operations. The transaction, which closed in June 2026, solidifies the transition of the company into its next growth phase under a collaborative investment structure.
