BaseCamp opened 16 locations across 10 states during the first six months of this year, capitalizing on a broader market trend where secondhand apparel is expanding nearly four times faster than traditional retail. The company is now leveraging this momentum to target the Northeast, building on the performance of a Weymouth, Massachusetts, location that debuted in March. Plans include multi-unit developments throughout New York and New Jersey to meet what executives describe as significant pent-up demand for curated resale experiences.
Co-CEO Zach Gordon attributed the growth to a shift in consumer behavior, as families seek to maximize their purchasing power in a fluctuating economy. The company currently operates 300 stores across 33 states and international markets, with another 50 locations currently in development. These new agreements involve operators with backgrounds in corporate leadership and off-price retail, suggesting a professionalization of the franchise network as it scales.
