While employee sentiment has rebounded—climbing 11 points since 2023—the data highlights a disconnect in corporate awareness. Although 71% of employers believe their staff’s financial health is strong, only 55% of employees share that view. Inflation and the rising cost of living remain primary sources of stress for three-quarters of workers, even as debt levels show signs of cooling. Credit card debt prevalence dropped 11 points over the past year, and 60% of employees successfully met their emergency savings goals in 2026.
Retirement planning has emerged as a significant success story, with 73% of employees feeling on track toward their long-term objectives. A notable shift in behavior is occurring among younger generations: Gen Z workers are beginning to save for retirement at age 24, a full decade earlier than Boomers did. For employers, these benefits are becoming a critical tool for retention. With 39% of staff citing competitive benefits as a reason for their loyalty, firms that offer robust financial wellness programs report measurable gains in productivity and employee engagement.
