The platform supports three primary execution pathways: smart mechanical alignment tools for both supine and lateral positions, mixed-reality guidance compatible with any surgical approach, and predictive simulated radiographs. By housing 35 different implant systems alongside generic options, the technology aims to replace the need for hospitals to maintain multiple device-specific solutions.
Duke Health surgeons, who have utilized the system for over 2,200 combined procedures, highlight the shift toward operational flexibility. Samuel Wellman, MD, noted that the ability to accommodate various implants addresses a broader spectrum of patient needs compared to traditional, rigid systems. Meanwhile, Adam Brekke, MD, pointed out that the open architecture allows for the application of advanced navigation in a wider range of cases, from routine primary procedures to complex revisions. According to Stephen B. Murphy, founder of Surgical Planning Associates, this evolution eliminates the necessity for surgeons to be tied to a single manufacturer, streamlining staff training and standardizing the surgical experience.
