While Morph’s current Layer 2 continues to manage payments and stablecoins, Tachyon handles the intensive technical requirements of active markets. The new chain supports order submissions, cancellations, and liquidations without competing for blockspace against non-trading activities. By utilizing a consensus design derived from HotStuff BFT, the network achieves instant finality and eliminates the risk of block reorganizations, ensuring that margin updates and position changes settle immediately.
Technical specifications for the new chain include target block times of 200 milliseconds and a throughput capacity of up to 200,000 transactions per second. To lower the barrier for users, the architecture features a gas-free trading experience, removing the requirement to hold native tokens for routine order management. The platform remains EVM-compatible, allowing developers to utilize standard wallets and existing toolsets.
PopDEX, a decentralized perpetual exchange, has become the first platform to migrate its infrastructure to Tachyon. According to Renna Ba, Morph’s Head of Ecosystem, the project represents a strategic shift toward specialized systems rather than forcing diverse financial applications into a single operational setup. Future partnerships and additional trading protocols are expected to be announced later this year.
