For years, mobile publishers operated under strict constraints that tethered transactions to app store environments. With the legal landscape shifting, publishers can now direct players to web-based storefronts, offering them greater control over loyalty rewards, bonus currency, and pricing structures. Coda’s new white paper, Beyond the App Store, outlines a framework for executing these transitions based on insights from over 300 industry partners, including Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts.
Zac Liew, Chief Commercial Officer at Coda, emphasizes that the strategy moves beyond mere payment processing. By leveraging intelligent routing, publishers can reinvest recovered margins to boost player retention and acquisition. Real-world applications of this model have already yielded tangible results: one major US publisher reported a 17% increase in webstore revenue and a 78% surge in first-time purchase rates after implementing optimized linkout strategies. To succeed, the company notes that developers must navigate complex backend requirements, including tax reconciliation, fraud prevention, and local payment compliance, which Coda addresses through its proprietary infrastructure.
