Wills joins the discount retailer from his previous position as CFO of Brands and Consumer Markets at De Beers Group. His extensive retail background includes senior roles at Superdry and Marks & Spencer. In a LinkedIn statement posted on July 19, he expressed admiration for the company’s focus on customer value and confirmed he would be working closely with CEO Barry Williams to drive future growth.
While Wills chose not to specify which reports drew his ire, his appointment had been circulating in industry trade publications earlier this month. He thanked both Poundland and its owner, Gordon Brothers, for the opportunity to lead the company’s financial strategy as it navigates the competitive discount retail landscape.
