Zalando Joins $116 Million Series B Funding for Robotics Startup Sereact

Berlin-based warehouse robotics provider Sereact has secured a strategic investment from Zalando as part of its ongoing $116 million Series B funding round. The infusion of capital brings the startup’s total funding to over $145 million, accelerating its plans for international expansion and the development of its next-generation AI brain.

Sereact currently operates more than 200 systems across Europe, with clients including Mercedes Trucks and BOL. The new funding will specifically support the rollout of Cortex 2.0, an AI operating system designed to manage various hardware forms, ranging from single-arm picking cells to sophisticated humanoid robots. Unlike earlier iterations that relied on reactive trial-and-error, Cortex 2.0 utilizes a learned world model to anticipate physical outcomes and calculate movement efficiency before execution.

Dr. Ralf Gulde, CEO and Co-Founder of Sereact, noted that Zalando’s entry serves as a market signal regarding the necessity of operational excellence in modern logistics. Masood Choudhry, SVP of Fulfilment at Zalando, framed the move as part of a broader commitment to supporting European technology and establishing new standards for e-commerce automation. With the fresh capital, the company intends to scale its footprint, with a particular focus on entering the United States market.
