American Conference Appoints Eryn McVerry as Chief Brand Officer

The American Conference has appointed brand strategist Eryn McVerry as its new chief brand officer, tasking the veteran executive with unifying the league's marketing and commercial operations. Her hiring follows a high-growth year in which the conference reported generating over $500 million in earned media value.

McVerry assumes the newly integrated role after a two-decade career spanning agency work and professional sports, including leadership stints with the Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning. Her mandate involves aligning the conference’s branding, digital, and communications departments with its commercial arm, American RISE Ventures. Commissioner Tim Pernetti emphasized that the appointment is a strategic investment aimed at converting the league's recent identity overhaul into tangible business growth for its member institutions and student-athletes.

Most recently, McVerry operated her own consultancy, Maryn & Co., where she advised clients across the technology and media sectors. Her background includes developing strategies for major brands such as Verizon and NASCAR, as well as executing award-winning campaigns like the Tampa Bay Lightning’s ‘Be the Distant Thunder.’ Reporting directly to the commissioner, she will now focus on scaling the American’s national visibility and deepening engagement with its partners and fan base.
