The board’s structure is mandated by law to ensure a balance of geographic interests and industry roles. Harvester representatives are nominated by the state’s seven Zone Councils, while dealer and public sector seats are filled through the Lobster Advisory Council. These new members will work alongside returning directors to shape marketing strategy and protect the industry's reputation for sustainability and quality.
Curt Brown, owner of Bold Coast Seafood, was elected chair during the board’s inaugural meeting. He emphasized that the group’s focus remains on telling the story of Maine’s fishery to a global audience. The board includes representatives from companies such as Luke's Lobster, Bean Maine Lobster, and Cousins Maine Lobster, alongside officials from the Maine International Trade Center. Executive Director Marianne LaCroix noted that this mix of expertise is essential to navigating current challenges while reinforcing the value of the Maine Lobster brand.
