Halozyme and Incyte Partner on Subcutaneous Drug Delivery

Halozyme Therapeutics has entered a global licensing agreement with Incyte to integrate its ENHANZE drug delivery technology into the development of INCA033989. This collaboration focuses on creating subcutaneous formulations for patients with mutant calreticulin-expressing myeloproliferative neoplasms, aiming to simplify dosing regimens and improve the overall patient experience.

Under the terms of the deal, San Diego-based Halozyme will receive an initial upfront payment alongside potential milestone-based compensation and royalties on net sales. Incyte has also secured an option to nominate two additional therapeutic targets for potential future integration with the ENHANZE platform, which utilizes the proprietary enzyme rHuPH20 to facilitate the subcutaneous administration of injected medications.

Dr. Helen Torley, President and CEO of Halozyme, noted that the partnership leverages Incyte’s established hematology portfolio to expand the reach of their delivery technology. The collaboration marks another addition to Halozyme’s network of partnerships with biopharmaceutical firms, including Roche, Pfizer, and Takeda, as the company seeks to reduce treatment burdens across multiple therapeutic areas.
