The acquisition represents a departure from traditional celebrity revenue streams, which have historically relied on film salaries and backend bonuses. Before the sale, industry trackers placed Affleck’s assets in the $150 million to $200 million range. By liquidating his stake in the AI venture, Affleck has effectively transitioned from a high-earning movie star to a significant tech founder, distancing his financial standing from contemporaries like Matt Damon, whose estimated worth sits at $170 million.
InterPositive, established in 2022, focused on integrating AI into visual effects without compromising creative oversight. Affleck previously characterized the startup as a bridge between technological evolution and the preservation of human craft, emphasizing that the platform was designed to handle complex production challenges such as lighting corrections and background replacements.
Netflix has moved aggressively to integrate these capabilities into its broader content strategy. During a recent earnings call, co-CEO Ted Sarandos noted that artificial intelligence is currently active in roughly 300 of the company’s productions. The streamer is prioritizing post-production workflows to increase output speed and reduce costs, citing the docuseries "The American Experiment" as a primary case study. In that project, 17 minutes of AI-enhanced footage were produced at half the cost and twice the speed of conventional methods, signaling a shift in how the platform intends to scale its creative operations.
