Penetron Expands Research Ties at Philadelphia Self-Healing Conference

Executives from nine countries gathered at Drexel University earlier this month as Penetron participated in the 10th International Conference on Self-Healing Materials. The event served as a bridge between academic research and commercial application, focusing on the future of concrete durability and infrastructure protection in aggressive environments.

The conference, held July 8–10, drew specialists from over 18 countries to Philadelphia’s Bossone Research Enterprise Center. For Penetron, the attendance of a diverse global delegation—including representatives from Brazil, India, Greece, and Singapore—underscores a strategic push to align their proprietary waterproofing technologies with emerging scientific breakthroughs.

Christopher Chen, Director of The Penetron Group, emphasized that the firm’s half-century history in the field relies on constant technical evolution. By engaging with over 70 research presentations, the company aims to refine solutions that reduce concrete permeability and extend structural lifespans. Jozef Van Beeck, Director of International Sales and Marketing, noted that the forum was critical for syncing laboratory innovation with the practical, often harsh, requirements of the global construction sector. The gathering concluded with a renewed emphasis on fostering partnerships between materials scientists and industry engineers to solve real-world infrastructure challenges.
