Guardian Bikes Hits One Million Units Sold Milestone

One million families have chosen Guardian Bikes, marking a decade of growth for the Seymour-based manufacturer. The company, which gained national attention on Shark Tank for its patented SureStop braking technology, has transitioned from a component supplier into a full-scale producer of children’s bicycles built entirely in Indiana.

The company’s path to this milestone began with a focus on preventing head-over-handlebar accidents. Founders initially sought to license their SureStop braking system, but eventually shifted strategy to design and manufacture their own complete line of bicycles. Today, the operation in Seymour covers every stage of production, from initial tube fabrication and frame welding to final assembly and shipping.

By keeping manufacturing local, the brand maintains oversight over quality and safety standards. Each bike is engineered with kid-specific geometry and lightweight frames, a design philosophy aimed at helping children learn to ride in as little as one day. Approximately 400 employees, many of whom are local parents, now staff the facility. CEO Brian Riley credits this achievement to the trust placed in the brand by families and the dedication of the team that builds the bikes. With one million units now in use across the United States, the company intends to scale its production model further, viewing this volume not as a final destination but as a foundation for future growth.
