Jack Johnson leaves Ocado to lead Joybuy’s European retail media expansion

After five years of shaping the advertising landscape at Ocado Retail, Jack Johnson is shifting his focus to JD.com’s international arm. The former Head of Retail Media & Data will now spearhead the development of Joybuy’s retail media operations across the UK and Europe, marking a significant move for the Chinese e-commerce giant.

Johnson announced his departure via LinkedIn, highlighting his tenure at Ocado where he was instrumental in building the Ocado Ads and Beet by Ocado platforms. Reflecting on his time at the company, he described the experience as a career-defining period characterized by rapid growth and complex challenges. His background also includes a previous role at customer data firm dunnhumby, providing him with a strong foundation in the retail intelligence sector.

At Joybuy, Johnson aims to establish a robust retail media presence as the company seeks to scale its European footprint. His transition is set to be finalized by the end of the month.
