Solorzano noted that the burden extended beyond her monthly budget, impacting her health and preventing the family from planning basic milestones like vacations.

Achieve co-founder and co-CEO Brad Stroh stated that Solorzano’s submission was chosen for its honesty and the resilience shown while managing the needs of a large family. The $10,000 prize is intended to provide immediate relief and breathing room for the Solorzano household. The contest, launched in May, was designed to spotlight the personal realities behind national debt trends and the perseverance required to navigate unexpected economic hurdles.
