International Fellowship to Plant 3 Million Flags for October 7 Memorial

Three million miniature Israeli flags will blanket grounds across the globe this October as the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews launches its third annual Flags of Fellowship campaign. The initiative aims to unite 2,500 congregations and organizations in a visual demonstration against the global surge in anti-Semitism.

The campaign, which marks the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel, has expanded its reach significantly since last year. Organizers are currently coordinating with over 1,500 churches, synagogues, and universities, with participation extending into Latin America, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and India. Each participating site will display 1,200 flags, a symbolic tribute to the victims, hostages, and families impacted by the violence.

"What began as a memorial initiative has become a global movement of light, unity and resilience," said Yael Eckstein, President and Global CEO of The Fellowship. The project offers a tangible platform for communities to voice solidarity during a period of heightened hostility toward Jewish populations. Last year, the campaign involved 1,350 organizations across 10 countries, resulting in 1.5 million flags planted. If the current enrollment target is met, the total number of flags will double. Organizations interested in joining the remembrance events have until September 13 to register through the official IFCJ website.
