Before his final illness, Neill had successfully treated his angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma through CAR-T therapy. His representative confirmed that the actor had maintained a rigorous schedule over the last year, balancing work on four film projects with the management of his New Zealand winery, Two Paddocks. A private memorial service is planned at his farm, though the family has yet to set a date.
Hollywood colleagues have since shared memories of the actor’s warmth and professionalism. Cillian Murphy praised his kindness and humor, while director Colin Trevorrow remembered him as a soulful collaborator. Neill is survived by his four children: Andrew, Tim, Maiko, and Elena. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that supporters direct donations to organizations including The Dunstan Hospital Foundation, The Snowdome Foundation, the NZ Nature Fund, and Sustainable Tarras.
