West Palm Beach Honors Bob Sanders for Decades of Civic Leadership

Sanders first joined the Downtown Development Authority board in 1990, beginning a multi-decade tenure that spanned several critical growth phases for West Palm Beach. He held the position of chairman twice—from 2000 to 2003 and 2018 to 2020—before serving as vice chairman through 2025. Mayor James cited this institutional knowledge as a vital catalyst for the city’s long-term revitalization efforts.

Before transitioning to private practice at Greenberg Traurig in 2000, Sanders served as the city’s deputy attorney and administrator. His influence is etched into the local landscape through his work on landmark projects including CityPlace, the Palm Beach County Convention Center, and the redevelopment of the West Palm Beach Auditorium. Tracy L. Gerber, managing shareholder of the firm’s West Palm Beach office, noted that Sanders has functioned as a central unifying force in the community, bridging the gap between high-level civic engagement and private legal counsel.
