Mike Parent Named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year as CoVet Scales Globally

Mike Parent, co-founder of the AI-driven veterinary platform CoVet, has been named an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Canada winner. The award underscores a rapid year of growth for the Toronto-based company, which has expanded its footprint from three countries to over 20 since 2025 while tackling industry-wide burnout.

The recognition highlights a shift in veterinary medicine, where clinics are increasingly turning to automation to manage administrative fatigue. A recent internal survey conducted by CoVet found that 98% of veterinary professionals are interested in AI-driven administrative tools, with over half reporting a tangible improvement in work-life balance after implementation. In pilot programs across general, emergency, and specialty practices, clinicians have reported saving five to ten hours of documentation time per week, alongside a 40% reduction in end-of-day mental strain.

This growth trajectory has been marked by significant industry milestones, including the 2026 Purina Pet Care Innovation Prize and ISO 27001 certification. As the company scales, it has focused on building a partner ecosystem that includes the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society. According to co-founder and CEO Yannick Bloem, the platform's success rests on prioritizing clinical trust and security over simple technical capability. By integrating directly into existing workflows, CoVet aims to replace the manual record-keeping burdens that have historically plagued the profession, allowing practitioners to return their focus to patient care.
